August 3, 2005
San Francisco, CA – August 3, 2005: Big Enough for All of Us is the theme of this year’s national NAAFA convention being held in the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time in their 36 year history. The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is a human rights organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for fat people.
August 10-14, 2005 people of all sizes will come together from every corner of the country to celebrate their size and their lives at this annual fund raising event to be held at the San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel, 1770 South Amphlett Blvd., San Mateo, California 94402.
NAAFA works to eliminate discrimination based on body size and provide fat people with the tools for self-empowerment through public education, advocacy, and member support. This year’s convention will encourage people to enjoy Health at Every Size as we participate in workshops and activities such as Water Aerobics, Stretching for Everyone, Body/Mind Fitness, Dance Around the World, Travel Tips for Larger Travelers, Create Your Very Own Revolutionary Act, and more. The convention will begin with a bus tour of the bay area and will include such activities as private swim parties, a fashion show, a vendor sale, and late night dancing and entertainment. The activism track of workshops will culminate in a celebration in a local park on Saturday which will include medical professionals who believe in and encourage Health at Every Size.
