On behalf of NAAFA members and the size acceptance community, we would like to share our love and appreciation of Jeanne Toombs with her family and loved ones. We feel such sadness and shock at the loss of our dear colleague. We also celebrate her life of kindness.
Jeanne was a joyful and caring member of our community. She brought her compassion, her music, her exuberance, her beauty to our gatherings and to the effort to end weight-based negativity. We each remember favorite moments when Jeanne brought song or laughter to an event. Whether for entertainment or for political inspiration or both, Jeanne always knew how to put on the perfect show.
Jeanne was wholly committed to celebrating weight diversity. She helped everyone she encountered to value the beauty in all sizes. Her approach was gentle and kind but also sure and consistent. When she spoke to the media, she spoke without anger and called on everyone's compassion. She recently told the Boston Globe: "No matter what you think of fat people, they deserve to be treated like human beings"
We will profoundly miss our friend and colleague Jeanne. NAAFA will dedicate our coming convention to Jeanne. We will remember her and we will cry, we will sing, we will laugh, we will miss her.We Come In All Sizes...
