Earlier this week we lost a pillar of the size acceptance community when Jeanne Toombs, NAAFA Board Member and activist, passed away from complications of pneumonia. Many of you have asked how you might honor Jeanne and express your sympathy. We have received the following information from her family:
“We are having a hard time dealing with this as many from NAAFA are…You know how passionate she was about NAAFA and teaching people tolerance and to love themselves as they are.”
The family of Jeanne Toombs has asked that contributions be made to NAAFA in lieu of sending flowers. These donations will help to continue Jeanne’s fight to end discrimination against people of size. All checks should be made to NAAFA and earmarked with the name of Jeanne Toombs. Checks or money orders should be mailed to: NAAFA, P.O. Box 22510, Oakland, CA USA 94609.
For those of you in the Massachusetts area who might like to attend services, they are as follows:
The wake is Friday, April 4th 2-4 and 6-8 at Concord Funeral Home,Thoreau St., Concord, MA.
Funeral is Saturday, April 5th at 2pm at Trinity Episcopal Church on Elm St in Concord, MA.
More information is available at www.concordfuneral.com
Feel free to send any expressions of support and sympathy to:
